Project Overview

During the Unreal Engine artist internship at Moonshine, our group of 10 CG artists created two fantasy CG environments for filming. This included scripting, modeling, material creation, texturing, animation, VFX, and post-processing.

Process

We divided into technical artists and 3D artists, and I was in charge of working on materials, shaders, and modeling in the scene, including water materials, emissive plant materials, vertex animation, and props. This project was my first experience working with virtual production. During the internship, I became familiar with Unreal Engine, game asset production, and the virtual production pipeline. I also developed collaboration skills by working with a group of 3D artists using version control and working with technical artists to save time on tedious processes and optimize the scene run more efficiently.

Final Result

We successfully accomplished the creation of two short films using virtual production techniques. This involved a comprehensive process of pre-production, meticulous planning, and innovative use of technology to bring our vision to life. Our team utilized Unreal Engine to build immersive, high-quality fantasy environments that served as the backdrop for our films. The production process was a collaborative effort, with each team member contributing their unique skills and expertise. From scripting and storyboarding to modeling, texturing, animation, and VFX, every aspect of production was carefully crafted to ensure the highest quality result.
