Project Overview

We worked with United Airlines to recreate CG environments of airport lobbies, gates, lounges, hangars, and ramps for e-learning, VR, and virtual production filming purposes.

Process

Our 3D team recreates airport environments. We model in Maya, texture in Substance Painter, and handle lighting and rendering in Unreal Engine. Our goal is to create photorealistic CG environments, allowing clients to avoid shooting and traveling to busy airports. To achieve this, it's crucial to get the right dimensions, references, materials, and lighting to make everything as realistic as possible. Another challenge is focusing time and effort on the most important areas rather than trying to make all areas photorealistic. During production, United made a significant change to their visual identity. We are responsible for updating all signs and brand-related assets to match the new branding.

Final Result

These 3D environments not only save time for filming, but we can also reuse many of them for interviews background, training videos, and virtual reality. This provides employees with an immersive training experience and helps them become familiar with the space and content. This project also enriches my experience in 3D environment creation from start to finish and enhances my skills in communication and collaboration with other 3D artists using version control.
