As part of a team of 10 animators, I created motion designs that dedicated to the songs and stage setup for multiple concerts. By collaborating closely with artists and singers, we created engaging visuals that enhanced the audience's experience through a seamless integration of animation, sound, and lighting.
The motion designers team discuss with the art director and concert director about the theme and style to move forward. Some of the performance have specific requests that we must follow, while for some performances, we have complete freedom to create what we think will enhance the show. It’s both challenging and fun to accomplish so many different motion graphics styles to create a rich concert experience. We work on typography animation for on-screen lyrics, live video effects, and 2D and 3D motion graphics. Usually, the turnaround time is quick, so we have to find ways to reuse sections while making changes to ensure each part of the performance looks unique. Another challenge is to consider the LED screen dimensions and stage design when working on compositions. Each concert has a unique stage setup, so we coordinate the content with the stage design to make the experience more immersive and interactive.
During my time at J-Art Film, I was part of over 10 concert productions. This experience not only enhanced my motion graphics skills but also allowed me to try many different software and processes. I had the privilege of operating the visuals on set several times and experimenting with real-time images. Working closely with the production team improved my communication skills and my ability to exchange ideas with fellow designers. This project also inspired me to work on more experiential design.
