Awash in the Digital Landscape is an experimental video based on machine learning and point cloud data.

With the feed-in of 5000+ images of abandoned places collected from social media, including checked-in locations and pictures with #abandoned places/ #ruins, the computer is trained to produce a large number of ruins-like pictures. Through deep learning, the latent space of the model is trained and later been converted into 3D point clouds. As time goes, our rooms, homes, cites, and lands will become abandoned places someday in the future. The computer generates the imagination of “future ruins” and simulates abandoned rooms that don’t exist in the world in the form of data sculpture.
